Publisher Description

Turn pictures of your favorite moments into beautiful cross stitch tapestries of almost any size! Cross Stitch Creator is an embroidery app that allows you to generate cross stitch patterns from pictures (or create them from scratch) and track your progress on them. You can also save patterns as PDFs to print or share with your friends! There are no subscriptions or in app purchases - after the initial app purchase you can create as many patterns and PDFs as you want.

Features:
. Generate cross stitch patterns from pictures or from scratch up to 800 x 800 stitches
. Use hundreds of different colors in a single pattern
. 489 different DMC thread colors to choose from
. Create your own color palettes to use for generating (such as colors you already own)
. Several generation parameters such as maximum number of colors allowed and dithering
. Track your progress on patterns (details below)
. Edit your patterns after generating to perfect them or build one from scratch (details below)
. See a preview of what your pattern will look like when it's fully stitched
. Print patterns from directly within the app
. Share patterns as PDFs via Email, iMessage, and more
. Help popups to guide you through using the app

Progress tracking:
. Colorize individual stitches to mark progress
. Quick and easy symbol/color lookup
. Lockable stitches
. Sortable key
. Pattern metadata such as size, date created, number of colors, percent complete...

Pattern editor:
. Clean up generated patterns or create patterns from scratch
. Tools include draw, erase, fill, and undo/redo
. Effects such as reducing the number of colors used, conforming to a given palette, and resizing/cropping
. Note: Only full stitches and backstitches are supported. Half stitches, quarter stitches, french knots, etc. are not.

Disclaimer:
Although we try our best, thread colors may not appear to be completely accurate. Perception of thread color depends on multiple factors including, but not limited to, display settings such as brightness and night shift, ambient light conditions, and neighboring colors in the pattern. Please use your best judgement in determining which colors to actually use when stitching the pattern.

Version History Added DMC colors 1-35
Include a preview of the final stitched pattern in exported PDFs 3.10 04/28/2025 Improvements:
- Removed the "hold to drag" square from the editor to support the more standard "two finger drag to move" that's used throughout iPadOS. Dragging with a single finger now applies the current tool (e.g. draws stitches), which improves the experience for Apple Pencil
- Added the ability to select which symbol to use for each color in a pattern
- Upgraded existing lower resolution symbols in older patterns to use the equivalent higher resolution symbols
- Adds stitch numbers to chunk separators in pattern PDFs
- Save the sort type used in the thread color picker

Minor bug fixes:
- Backstitches in the PDF now properly scale their line width according to the stitch size
- Colors in the PDF that are only used for backstitches now only have an entry in the backstitch section rather than both the standard stitches section and backstitch section 3.09 09/03/2024 - Added support for backstitches
- Minor speed improvements on larger patterns
- Bug fixes and improvements 3.08 04/22/2024 Fixed an issue where the app would crash if you attempted to open any patterns with any 10x10 chunks locked 3.07.1 11/04/2022 - Added a contact us button in the help pages
- Added settings to allow you to change the thicknesses of the grid lines in patterns (press the gear in the top right on the progress tracking screen)
- Added the ability to view a preview of what the pattern will look like when it's done being stitched (press the eye in the top right on the progress tracking screen or editor)
- Added rulers to the top and left sides of the pattern while tracking progress to help you see where you are in the pattern when zoomed in
- Protect against slashes in pattern names 3.07 10/28/2022 Added the ability to start off creating a pattern from scratch instead of requiring generating from a picture and clearing out all the stitches
Added a "resize/crop" option to the effects tab in the editor to let you resize, crop, and shift your pattern
Added a crop to content" option to the effects tab in the editor to automatically reduce the size of the pattern down to just the non-blank stitches
Greatly sped up app launch time if you have a lot of patterns
Fixed a rare bug where the grid in the editor could disappear on extremely large patterns
Squashed some minor bugs 3.04 05/14/2022 Added a sidebar to the editor with two tabs:
- The first tab displays all the colors currently being used by the pattern. Tapping on a color will let you replace it with another color.
- The second tab provides some operations like reducing the number of colors used. It also has a "clear all stitches" option to make it easier to start designing a pattern from scratch.

Other changes:
- Greatly sped up pattern generation
- Add the ability to share/export palettes as PDFs listing the enabled colors
- Fixed a bug where renaming a palette wouldn't delete the palette with the old name
- Minor bug fixes 3.03 02/27/2022 Add information about the progress of individual colors:
- Display color progress in the color details box/popup
- Add the ability to sort the key by color progress
- Add the ability to flash the incomplete stitches of a particular color to help locate them (new button in the color details box/popup)
- The check mark on a color's row in the key now indicates whether or not that color has been completed (all stitches manually colorized) instead of if it is "on" (from the toggle in the color details box/popup)

Other changes:
- Add the ability to directly rename palettes
- Add the ability to change the fabric on existing patterns (tap the fabric row in the key)
- Minor bug fixes 3.01 12/13/2021 Reworked a large portion of the app to support adding new features in the future. Please let me know if you see any issues.

Other changes:
- Sped up several things across the app. Things should feel a bit more responsive.
- New patterns now use much more detailed/higher resolution symbols. Existing patterns will still keep their original symbols, but editing a pattern will update the symbols to the high resolution ones.
- Added more options to the PDF creator such as how to sort colors in the key
- Improved support for larger accessibility fonts
- Updated how patterns are saved and loaded
- Removed the option to save patterns to Photos
- Various minor bug fixes 3.00 09/22/2021 Fixed an issue where the 10x10 stitch lock text was white in dark mode
Improved 10x10 locking responsiveness
Slightly sped up pattern generation 2.22 06/27/2021 No longer crashes when opening patterns that have been completely erased 2.21 04/25/2021 - Fixes a potential crash introduced in the previous update

- When generating a pattern, use all colors if no palettes exist
- Adds the ability to sort the list of patterns
- Bug fixes 2.19 04/05/2021 - Fixes a couple crashes seen while editing
- Fixes a crash that happened when overwriting an existing pattern after having used undo in the editor 2.18 06/11/2020 Adds support for dark mode. This fixes an issue introduced in the previous update where some text wouldn't be visible because it was drawing white on a white background. 2.17 06/04/2020 - In the editor, you can now select "no color" as the current color, which allows for removing multiple stitches at once by using the fill tool.
- You can now edit saved patterns and save the edits as a new pattern or overwrite the original pattern. Overwriting the original will clear any progress you've made on edited stitches.
- When editing a palette, you can now sort the list of colors.
- Minor bug fixes 2.16 05/25/2020 - The undo and redo buttons in the editor now become disabled/grayed out if there's nothing to undo/redo

- Fixed a bug where the editor could become unresponsive 2.15 08/26/2019 Added a basic pattern editor so you can now add final touches to your patterns after generating 2.14 08/12/2019 Bug fixes:
- Help boxes no longer always appear on the main menu after launching the app
- The "Create PDF" option available after resizing to determine page breaks now works

We are looking to improve this in the future.
